Dr. John Schultz, Associate Professor of Anthropology, University of Florda.

Dr John Schultz is testifying to his background. His specialty is forensic anthropology and archeological anthropology. Forensic biologist >studies bones Forensic Archeology> recovers bones and studies how bones may have been dispersed at site. Schultz says specialty is finding human remains.  He studied at University of Florida in a prominent lab. As a professor of forensic anthropologist he is expected to donate time to the community.He worked as an availale asses to the ME. Schultz: Called by Steve Hanson and Dr. G re: skeletal remains of Caylee.
He arrived at site of remains.  He saw the skull in the bag. He saw the duct tape.  He is shown a photograph of the skull. Casey sighs and appears she is getting sick.
The mandible was in close to anatomical position. It was surprising to find it in place. It is usually disarticulated from skull.
Schultz: Said hair mat held mandible in place, not duct tape .  He assisted the sheriffs office. This was not a "excavation" it was a recovery. There were many issues. They were recoverig small bones from child. Some bones were in parts.
He told staff to they should beon hands and knees looking through vegetation.  He described methodology of search.Schultz: Process Suburban Drive scene on hands and knees, screening, double checking all material at sifting station .

Casey is sobbing now. I think. It is hard to tell with her. Attorney Sims has Casey in her arms. Dr Schultz is testifying to animal marks on bones.Witness- "These bones were actually chewed on by animals".  Bones were being transported while they were still held together with some soft tissue according to expert.  The chewed on bones by animals seemed to disturb everyone including jurors. The juror is returned. Ashton resumes his questioning. He is showing Dr.Schultz pics.

Schultz: Difficult to collect many teeth. Feels successful in this recovery: most of spine, ribs, hands, feet..There was only one bone from Right foot due to animal activity. 
They areas where the bones were found are "mapped out" cataloging where bonds were found. Dr Schults identiies where bones were found. He goes over of bone location. There are 4 areas.
The bones were dragged by animals.
Area A> primary area where body was placed.  The skull , arms and lower legs were there.The skeleton was initially intact.   He is discussing "dispersement:" of bones.  they found the skull, arms , hands, lower legs and L foot.
Area B> T he area is south of area A.. The shaft of upper arm bone was found.
Area F The trunk, pelvis arms, and leg bones.  They were dragged there.They search all aeas on hands and knees with trowels. They cleared all ground cover..
Area D> one bone was found, It was a R foot bone with animal bites. It is suspected animals ate the rest.
Area G> Vertebra and spinal column attached. The bottom of the spinal column was dispersed and there was animal damage.
Area H> Ribs are dis articulated and some small bones.
Area I>
Area E> one hand bone. cervical, lumbar vertebra
Area I> more vertebrae. The spine was being drug along by animals.
It is his opinion that the body was relatively attached when deposited in Area A. Because the body was in a bag it is hard to know if there were parts disarticulated.There was no eviidence of machine damage on bones.
Many bone were under leaves meaning the bones had been there for awhile.
The ilium (top of pelvic bone) was nearly buried. It was a swampy area. The bone was near a palmetto trunk. The bone had carnivore damage. the bones were dry. No marrow in bones. No decomp odor. There was erosion on the bones.  It was not found in primary area. It was dragged. In his expert opinion the body was there for 6 months.  In his opoinion, the dispersal was mostly due to animal activity.There was chewing on ribs. The missing bones could have been chewed and digested by animals.
Cheney Mason cross. He is going over methodology of processing of bones. There was no evidence of peri mortem trauma. He means ante mortem trauma. No sings Caylee every had a bone broken.
The bones were 25-30 feet from road. He reinforces he did not make map. Dr Schultz testifiers on how the map was made.Cheney Mason is questioning if bags were in the areas of dispersed bones.. Dr Schultz can not tell the jury when the dispersements of bones took place. He cannot tell the jury how Caylee died.  He did not anyalize the duct tape. The tape was not over the nose. No more questions.  
Redirect prosecuture. Nasal aperature> the hole (nose) on the skull .There is no way to say if the tape was on the nose as it was only a hole on the skull. the nose was not thee anymore..
